New Delhi: When will the rain stop? The monsoon has not only slowed down the pace of life across various regions but has also made conditions miserable. Waterlogging on roads due to incessant rain is causing significant hardship for the public, making daily life difficult. Water levels in major rivers across North India are also hovering near the danger mark.
Drains and ponds are overflowing. Heavy rainfall has disrupted life in the northeastern states as well, leading to a drop in temperatures. Heavy rain is also lashing parts of South India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across 24 states. Along with the rain, wind speeds could reach 80 to 85 kilometres per hour.

Heavy Rain Expected Across 24 States
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely in 24 states on August 22. The weather department has issued a heavy rain alert for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Alerts have also been issued for Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh.
The IMD predicts heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning in Chhattisgarh, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland. Heavy rainfall is also anticipated in Mizoram, Sikkim, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. An alert regarding strong winds reaching speeds of 85 km/h has been issued, and there is a possibility of damage caused by lightning strikes in several areas.
Weather Forecast for Delhi
The weather department has predicted a deterioration in weather conditions in the national capital, Delhi. The IMD has issued a warning for heavy rain and storms on August 22. Strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 50 km/h are also expected. The maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to reach 34 degrees Celsius tomorrow, August 22. The minimum temperature here is expected to hover around 28 degrees Celsius.
Likelihood of heavy rain in UP
The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in the UP districts of Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Meerut, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Aligarh, and Mathura. Additionally, heavy rain is anticipated in Jhansi, Bijnor, Agra, Mirzapur, Jaunpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Gorakhpur, and Prayagraj. Warnings for intense rainfall have also been issued for Budaun, Etawah, Azamgarh, Raebareli, Jalaun, Lalitpur, Mahoba, and Varanasi.

Warning of heavy rain in Bihar
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for torrential rain across several districts of Bihar. Heavy rainfall is expected in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran, Siwan, Bhojpur, Buxar, and Patna. Rain is also likely in Gaya, Jehanabad, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Purnia, and Katihar. Meanwhile, there is a forecast of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Bhagalpur, Araria, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, and Munger.
