New Delhi: With assembly elections approaching in just a few months in the country’s most populous state, the topic would inevitably dominate the discourse; after all, UP politics is considered the focal point of national politics. Recently, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav remarked on the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), likening them to a ‘four-anna coin’ (a quarter-rupee) being turned into a ‘rupee ‘, which has drawn fierce criticism from opposition parties.
RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary accused Akhilesh Yadav of targeting the Jat community. Now, BSP supremo and former UP Chief Minister Mayawati has also joined this war of words; she has accused Akhilesh Yadav of using undignified language and demanded an apology, stating that he must apologise for the statement.
Mayawati Targets Akhilesh Yadav
BSP chief Mayawati took to the social media platform ‘X’ to support RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary and attack Akhilesh Yadav. She termed Akhilesh Yadav’s statement as arrogant and unbecoming, stating that it was an insult not only to the Rashtriya Lok Dal and Jayant Chaudhary but also to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.
She further asserted that Akhilesh Yadav should immediately apologise for insulting the Jat community. Mayawati also accused the SP of arrogance, noting that it was this very arrogant nature of the party that led to the collapse of the SP-BSP alliance in 1993.

She also alluded to the ‘State Guest House incident,’ stating that the breakdown of that alliance was the cause of the incident. Accusing Akhilesh Yadav of repeating past mistakes, she remarked that even though an SP-BSP alliance was formed later, Akhilesh Yadav still adopted an arrogant attitude.
SP Changes Colours Like a Chameleon
BSP supremo Mayawati accused the SP of changing colours like a chameleon. She claimed that the SP only knows how to serve its own interests; once its objective is achieved, the party changes its colours like a chameleon. She also took a dig at the statement regarding the inclusion of ‘Pandits’ in the ‘PDA’ (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) alliance. Akhilesh is now linking the ‘P’ in PDA to Pandits (Brahmins), portraying them as allies. He alleged that the SP has never truly championed the interests of backward classes, minorities, or the Brahmin community, prioritising its own caste base instead.
Jayant Chaudhary also takes a dig.
Apart from Mayawati, RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary has also taken a dig at Akhilesh Yadav. He accused Akhilesh of insulting the entire Jat community. In a post on the social media platform X, Chaudhary stated that if Akhilesh had something to say amidst the political battle, he should have addressed the community directly by name.
He remarked that targeting the Jat community specifically with comments like “we taught them ABCD was inappropriate. He further described Akhilesh Yadav as arrogant, noting that he has witnessed this arrogance up close and that it is precisely what leads to political downfall.
