New Delhi: Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has been a major topic of discussion recently. He has been vocal against the government regarding issues concerning students. On Friday, Rahul Gandhi staged a sit-in protest outside a police station over the failure to register an FIR regarding a Delhi Police pellet gun incident. He is scheduled to visit Pune on August 22 to participate in the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ (Students’ Voice) event; however, a commotion broke out in Pune ahead of the program.
A political uproar ensued following an alleged assault on students within the COEP College campus and hostel. Reports indicate that two Congress workers were also injured in the ensuing chaos. Tensions have escalated ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s scheduled visit, with the dispute arising between rival student organisations.

Congress Leaders Arrive at the Scene
Upon receiving news of the student clash, Vijay Wadettiwar, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly,y rushed to the site. Following the incident, Congress leaders and workers reportedly began protesting within the college premises. Wadettiwar, along with Satej Patil and Vishwajeet Kadam, immediately staged a sit-in protest. Consequently, a large police force was deployed to the area, and the police managed to bring the situation under control.
Police Deployed on Campus Following Student Clash
On Friday, the campus became a battleground for a clash between students. A confrontation occurred between members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) at the COEP Technological University hostel campus. A heavy police force was deployed on the campus immediately after the incident.
Two Congress workers were reported injured in the assault and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Congress leaders visited the hospital to meet the injured workers and inquire about their condition.

Rahul Gandhi’s Program Scheduled for Today
The ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ event featuring Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is scheduled to take place today, August 22. The police and administration have already imposed several conditions regarding the event. Robust security arrangements were put in place following a physical altercation on the college campus just a day before the event. Despite this, questions are still being raised regarding the security setup.
The situation remains highly tense following a dispute that erupted between student groups. Conflicting claims are being made by the various parties involved. The police are investigating the matter and are trying to determine the root cause of the dispute and identify the individuals involved in the altercation.
