Suniel Shetty expresses excitement over Paresh Rawal’s comeback in ‘Hera Pheri 3’, emphasizing that true magic lies in situational comedy not WhatsApp style jokes.
‘Hera Pheri’ remains a beloved film in Indian cinema, with its memorable dialogues and scenes often shared as memes on various social media platforms.
In a recent interview, Suniel Shetty reminisced about the cult classic and commended director Priyadarshan’s creative brilliance. “Each comedic moment in the film was conceived by Priyadarshan,” Shetty shared. “While we had the flexibility to improvise to some extent, iconic lines such as ‘Aurat ka chakkar babu bhaiya’ were solely his invention. He meticulously crafted every word.”
Speaking highly of the director, Shetty remarked, “I have never met a director like him. His viewpoint on comedy is exceptional; he finds humor in places where others might overlook it. He is truly a comedic genius.”
Suniel expressed, “I won’t make any statements until the release.”
After playing the role of Ghanshyam (Shyam) in the ‘Hera Pheri’ series, Shetty maintained a cautiously hopeful attitude regarding the franchise’s future. Concerning ‘Hera Pheri 3’, he confirmed that Paresh Rawal would be returning but preferred to keep details private. “Yes, Paresh is returning, and I’m excited. But I’d rather hold off on discussing more until the release day. We don’t want to risk anything,” he stated.
Reflecting on the film’s enduring influence, Shetty commented, “There’s a whole generation that may not recognize me as Suniel Shetty. When mothers ask their eight-year-old kids if they know me, the answer is often no. But if you mention ‘Hera Pheri’, their faces brighten with smiles. Nowadays, I’m not just Suniel Shetty; I’m Shyam from ‘Hera Pheri’.”
Suniel Shetty expressed his views on how today’s movies differ from classic films like Hera Pheri. He mentioned that in older comedies, humor stemmed from circumstances, whereas modern films rely heavily on WhatsApp-like jokes.
Suniel remarked, “Current films are missing quality writing. They lack real jokes, only featuring WhatsApp forwards, while a film such as Hera Pheri was grounded in situations rather than mere jokes.”
