New Delhi: The Bulandshahr police have carried out a major operation in which a criminal carrying a reward of ₹50,000, identified as Monu, was killed in an encounter. He was accused of raping a young girl and had been evading the police for several days. A Sub-Inspector and a constable were also injured during the encounter. A motorcycle, a pistol, and ammunition were recovered from the deceased criminal.
The accused faced seven criminal cases across four districts. The Bulandshahr police view this operation as a significant success, reiterating their commitment to ensuring the safety of daughters and stating that such criminals will not be spared.

Police Shoot Down Criminal
The Gulaothi police clashed with criminals near Chhapravat on the Bulandshahr-Hapur road. During the encounter, the police shot dead the criminal who carried a ₹50,000 reward. Following the encounter, SSP Dinesh Singh explained that the Gulaothi police and the SWAT team were conducting checks near Chhapravat village when they spotted a motorcycle approaching with two individuals on board.
When the police signalled them to stop for a check, the riders opened fire on the police teams. Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar and Constable Narendra Kumar of the SWAT team were injured in the firing. Bullets struck the bulletproof jackets worn by Gulaothi Station House Officer (SHO) Dharmendra Kumar Sharma and Sikandrabad SHO Shailendra Pratap Singh.
Police Share Key Details
SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh shared significant details regarding the encounter. He stated that the police team returned fire in self-defence; one criminal was critically injured, while the other managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness. Efforts to arrest the absconding suspect, including a search operation, have been intensified.
The injured criminal and police personnel were immediately admitted to the Gulaothi Community Health Centre (CHC). Due to his critical condition, the criminal was referred to the district hospital. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the district hospital, which is affiliated with the Kalyan Singh Government Medical College. Weapon and Bike Recovered from Criminal
The criminal killed in the encounter has been identified as Monu, son of Rakesh, a resident of Fatehpur Jadauran (under the jurisdiction of Chola Police Station, Bulandshahr district). He was an accused in a rape-and-murder case and carried a reward of ₹50,000 on his head. An illegal pistol, live and spent cartridges, and a motorcycle were recovered from the scene. The SSP stated that on August 1st of this month, the deceased criminal had raped and subsequently murdered a 12-year-old girl near the Chola railway station.

Police Had Announced a Reward
The police had declared a reward of ₹50,000 for the accused, Monu. Seven criminal cases were registered against the slain criminal across Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, GRP Bareilly, and GRP Aligarh. A .32-bore pistol, two magazines, and several live and spent cartridges were seized from Monu’s possession; the recovered motorcycle did not even have a number plate.
