New Delhi: The monsoon has slowed down across most parts of India, signalling its withdrawal. In the plains of North India, sultry, humid heat has made life difficult for residents. Snowfall has commenced in some valleys of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, leading to a drop in temperatures. Rain continues in several parts of South India, where a decline in temperature has been recorded.
Rainfall has also disrupted the pace of life in the northeastern states. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rain across several states. According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is likely in 13 states, and people have been urged to exercise caution due to the risk of lightning strikes.
Heavy Rain Warning for 13 States
According to the Meteorological Department, warnings for rainfall ranging from light to heavy have been issued for 13 states for September 23. Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in Kerala, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh on this day.
The department has also issued alerts for light to moderate rainfall in Telangana, Sikkim, Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Assam, and Meghalaya. Strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 75 kmph are likely in these regions, and there is also a looming threat of flooding in several areas.
Weather Forecast for Delhi Today
The IMD predicts clear skies for Delhi-NCR on September 23 and 24. Temperatures are expected to range from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 36°C. Winds are likely to blow from the northeast in the morning at speeds of up to 12 kmph. A change in Delhi’s weather is expected on September 25. The IMD forecasts partly cloudy skies for that day, with the maximum temperature likely to reach 35°C and the minimum expected to be 22°C. Heavy Rainfall Expected in UP
According to the Meteorological Department, no specific rainfall alert has been issued for Uttar Pradesh today, September 23. However, the IMD has issued an alert for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in several districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh—including Ballia, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Azamgarh, Mau, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, and Bhadohi—between September 25 and 27.
Additionally, alerts for heavy rainfall at isolated places have been issued for Western Uttar Pradesh on September 26–27 and for Eastern Uttar Pradesh on September 25 and 27. Isolated areas in Eastern Uttar Pradesh may also witness spells of very heavy rainfall on September 26.
Heavy Rain Warning for Bihar
Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Bihar on September 23. Conditions conducive to very heavy rainfall may develop in some areas on September 24–25. Rain is also anticipated on September 26–27.
