Preparations for the upcoming assembly elections are in full swing in Kanpur. In view of this, technical inspections of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have begun and have been expedited. The process for the upcoming 2027 assembly elections has already begun. The administration is working diligently to ensure the machines’ functionality and condition. EVMs are now being inspected in Kanpur before the elections. During this inspection, a large number of machines were tested, and some failed to meet the standards. This is being done to ensure that there is no scope for malpractice in the upcoming elections.

How many EVMs were inspected?

According to information received, the EVM inspection process is underway in Kanpur. A total of 7,688 EVMs were inspected in Kanpur. During the inspection, 143 machines were marked as rejected. These machines will not be used in the elections. All the machines that passed the inspection have been preserved for use in the elections.

Why is the technical inspection necessary?

Preparations for the elections have begun, and the EVMs to be used during the elections are now being thoroughly inspected to ensure that voters do not encounter any malfunctions or problems during voting. This inspection was conducted with this in mind. The purpose is to ensure that the electronic and technical components of the machines are functioning properly. Therefore, all the machines that worked properly have been preserved, and those with technical problems have been rejected to avoid further problems.

143 machines rejected

It is worth noting that 143 machines have been rejected in the inspection, and these machines will not be used. This process is important for the administration because, before being sent to polling stations, all the machines must be thoroughly inspected to ensure their reliability and technical condition. Therefore, this inspection is necessary to prevent any problems during the elections.

Preparations intensify ahead of the elections

Preparations have begun in every district in Uttar Pradesh for the assembly elections. Even at the district administration level, election-related preparations are being continuously advanced. In light of this, inspections were conducted, and machines found to be faulty were rejected due to technical flaws, while those found to be in good condition were kept safe, keeping in mind the arrangements at polling stations.
