Monsoon Alert

New Delhi: The monsoon has now bid farewell to most regions, including North India. With its departure, the plains of UP, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh have found relief from the rain. Rainfall during the last week of September had caused water levels in rivers, drains, and ponds to rise, causing inconvenience to the public. Continuous rain in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh led to landslides, disrupting several routes.

Late-night rains in various parts of South India brought a drop in temperatures, offering residents relief from scorching heat. Weather conditions remain turbulent in the northeastern states as well. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by winds reaching speeds of 70 km/h in several states. Furthermore, the department has advised fishermen to stay away from coastal areas.

Likelihood of Heavy Rain Across 20 States

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected on October 2 in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Assam, Haryana, and Jammu & Kashmir may witness spells of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms.

The department has also predicted heavy rainfall for Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Gujarat, Telangana, and Meghalaya, with wind speeds potentially reaching up to 70 km/h.

Heavy Rain Expected in Delhi Too

The IMD has forecast torrential rain for Delhi today and issued an alert for thunderstorms. An alert regarding wind speeds of 25 to 30 km/h has also been issued. Delhi is expected to record a maximum temperature of 34°C and a minimum of 22°C today.

Weather Outlook for UP

According to the Meteorological Department, rain is likely in Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Prayagraj, Bareilly, Firozabad, Mathura, Meerut, and Gorakhpur. An alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for Agra, Gonda, Unnao, and Etah. Additionally, gusty winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 50 km/h may occur in these areas. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 33°C and the minimum to hover around 24°C today, October 2.

Rain and Gusty Winds Likely in Bihar

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, Munger, Jehanabad, Vaishali, and Purnia districts of Bihar. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Bhagalpur, Madhubani, and Kishanganj. Winds are likely to blow at speeds of 30 to 35 km/h.
