New Delhi: Today marks the 157th birth anniversary of the ‘Father of the Nation,’ Mahatma Gandhi, who played a pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle. Along with Bapu, the 122nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri is also being observed. Various political and social organisations are paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Rajghat in Delhi to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
He also participated in the all-faith prayer meeting held at Gandhi’s memorial. Subsequently, PM Modi visited Vijay Ghat to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Modi also recalled the ideals and contributions of both leaders.

Events are being organised across the country to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, honour his contributions, and pledge to follow his ideals. PM Modi visited the Gandhi memorial in Delhi to pay tribute and attended the all-faith prayer meeting held there, reflecting on Gandhi’s philosophy and contributions.
Remembering Lal Bahadur Shastri at Vijay Ghat
On the 122nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, PM Modi visited Vijay Ghat to pay tribute and acknowledge his contributions. This year, October 2 marks the observance of both Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti, a day when the nation honours the contributions of both leaders.
Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor also visits Rajghat
Apart from PM Modi, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu also visited Rajghat to pay tribute to Bapu. He offered homage at the Gandhi memorial on the occasion of the 157th birth anniversary and participated in the all-faith prayer meeting. Additionally, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla visited Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and recall his contributions, participating in the all-faith prayer meeting held at the memorial. Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by visiting Rajghat on his birth anniversary.

Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma also paid homage to Bapu on Gandhi Jayanti. He offered tributes at the Rajasthan Secretariat in Jaipur on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, honouring the contributions of both leaders. Meanwhile, Delhi’s Rekha Gupta visited Vijay Ghat to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 122nd birth anniversary. It is worth noting that political parties, social organisations, schools, colleges, and other establishments across the country paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. On this occasion, people remembered his contributions and pledged to follow in his footsteps.
