New Delhi: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has become quite active alongside the ruling BJP and the main opposition party, the Samajwadi Party (SP). On September 10, BSP supremo Mayawati took a major decision to remove her elder nephew, Akash Anand, from the party. Since then, she has frequently made statements regarding Akash Anand and his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth.

Despite this, her nephew Akash Anand had maintained his silence. Now, after nearly 22 days, he has broken his silence and made a significant statement. Akash Anand remarked that his silence had been misunderstood. He declared that he would not join any other party in the future. He also supported the decision regarding his father-in-law’s expulsion from the party and his subsequent retirement from politics.

Support for father-in-law’s decision to retire from politics

After being removed from the BSP, Mayawati’s nephew Akash Anand broke his silence. He stated that he is not joining any party, either now or in the future; he wishes to serve while remaining within the BSP. He also backed the decision to expel his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, from the party and the latter’s decision to retire. He affirmed that he stands by Mayawati’s decision.

Notably, prior to this, Mayawati had removed Akash Anand from all BSP posts, stating that if his political career was to be saved, his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, would have to retire from politics. A few hours later, Ashok Siddharth announced his retirement. However, Mayawati was displeased that Akash Anand did not repost the announcement. She remarked that Ashok Siddharth had prioritised his own interests while attempting to prevent the retirement decision from taking effect.

Mayawati has promoted Ishan Anand.

Following the removal of Akash Anand, BSP supremo Mayawati has assigned a key role to her younger nephew, Ishan Anand. Since Akash’s removal, Mayawati has not only made several posts but has also issued statements to the media. Mayawati had stated that Akash Anand had called her residence and made inappropriate remarks regarding her health.

Find out what Akash Anand wrote.

Breaking his silence after being expelled from the BSP, Akash Anand posted on X. He wrote, “Respected Behenji, you are my political mentor, my inspiration, and also my aunt. Everything I learned in politics, I learned from you; everything I did, I did under your guidance.

Therefore, I wish to place my views directly before you and the entire Bahujan community. For the past few days, various reports and rumours about me have been circulating in the media and on social media. I want to make it clear: I am not joining any other political party,y neither today nor ever. For me, the BSP is not just a party; it is my family.

He further wrote, “Your decision to expel Ashok Siddharth ji from the party and his retirement is entirely justified, and I stand by that decision. Relationships have their place, but the mission is greater than them. It is my responsibility pto prioritisethe interests of the party and the movement above personal and familial interests. At that time, I had distanced myself from social media, which is why I could not repost your message. My silence was misunderstood, giving rise to rumours. If this has caused you any hurt, I sincerely apologise.”
