New Delhi: The ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) is currently taking an aggressive stance against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the ‘SIR’ (Systematic Institutional Rot) issue. CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were taken into custody by the police at Jantar Mantar in Delhi while carrying the national flag (Tiranga). Since then, both leaders have remained in judicial custody at Tihar Jail. With the court extending their custody, opposition political parties have begun to voice their objections.

Former Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, has expressed her displeasure, raising serious questions regarding the custody of the CJP leaders. In a detailed post on social media, she described this move as a calculated conspiracy to suppress democracy. Targeting the BJP, she issued a stern warning to those in power.

Mamata Banerjee targets the BJP.

Former CM Mamata Banerjee has strongly criticised the BJP government over the arrest of the CJP leaders. She has demanded their immediate release, asserting that if there is any remaining faith in democracy, they must be set free. In her statement, she also questioned the conduct of investigative agencies and the ruling establishment.

Accusing them of abusing power, she wrote, “I understand the desperate intent behind extending the custody of Ashutosh and Saurav. This dangerous ‘virus’ is being used daily to attack democracy.”

Oppression of the younger generation must stop immediately – Mamata Banerjee.

Mamata Banerjee also spoke out against the crackdown on movements led by the younger generation. She urged an immediate end to the oppression of ‘Gen Z’ youth. Furthermore, she warned the government, reminding those currently in power that they may not remain in power tomorrow.

The former Chief Minister also rejected the notion that this instance of protest is merely a local issue. She further remarked that such oppressive tactics have become commonplace across the entire country, adding that the nation from Kolkata to Delhi and Mumbai has never before witnessed such tyranny.

Reflecting on the past, Mamata Banerjee noted that when our ancestors stood up against colonial rule, they too had to endure similar oppression. Yet, they persisted in their struggle, fueled by profound conviction and immense courage.

Targeting the administration as well

Mamata Banerjee has strongly criticised not only those in government but also the administration. Expressing her displeasure over the abuse of power, she stated, “I want to say this clearly: attempts to suppress others through such abuse of power have never succeeded in history—nor will they succeed now.”
