New Delhi: Monsoon rains are being witnessed across various regions of North India, ranging from the Delhi-NCR area to Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Temperatures continue to drop due to the rainfall. Several parts of the country are also grappling with floods, and the water level of the Yamuna River, which flows past Delhi, has risen. Rainy spells continue in various parts of South India as well.
While the rain has made the weather pleasant in some areas, waterlogging is disrupting normal life in many places. In the northeastern states, the rain has brought the pace of daily life to a complete halt. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across several parts of the country. Heavy Rain Warning for 18 States
The IMD has issued warnings for heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across 18 states. According to the IMD, heavy rain warnings have been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Additionally, alerts for intense rainfall have been issued for West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh.
The IMD has also issued warnings for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala. People in these regions are advised to exercise caution amidst the heavy rainfall.
Weather Forecast for Delhi
According to the IMD, the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy on August 31. The maximum temperature is expected to reach between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius. On September 1, light to moderate rainfall is likely in several areas between the afternoon and evening; there is also a possibility of lightning strikes and gusty winds. On September 2, light rain is expected in many areas, while some places may witness moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. The maximum temperature is expected to hover between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius.
Heavy Rain Warning for UP
Adverse weather conditions are expected to persist in Uttar Pradesh until September 5. A heavy rain alert has been issued for Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Ballia, Ghazipur, Mau, Jaunpur, Deoria, and Kushinagar. The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in Maharajganj, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Siddharthnagar, and Bhadohi.
Additionally, heavy rain alerts have been issued for Chandauli, Mirzapur, Meerut, Shamli, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, and Moradabad. The IMD indicates that heavy rainfall is likely across parts of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Bijnor, Rampur, Amroha, and Sambhal.
Heavy Rain Likely in Several Bihar Districts
According to the Meteorological Department, a warning for torrential rain has been issued for August 31. The IMD has alerted that rainfall is expected at many locations across the state on August 31, with heavy downpours likely in some areas. Warnings indicate that rain will continue in Bihar on September 1 and 2 as well. Heavy rainfall may return to certain regions between September 3 and 5. In the last 24 hours, 8 cm of rainfall was recorded in Aurangabad, Bihar.
