Police Encounter

New Delhi: The UP Police has taken significant action in the murder case of Ankit Baliyan, a musician from the Haryanvi music industry. The Shamli police (UP) shot dead two suspects involved in the murder during an encounter. The deceased accused have been identified as Sumit and Mohit.

The Shamli police had been searching for both accused for several days and had been conducting raids at various locations. Two police personnel were also injured during the encounter with these accused. The police carried out this operation in the industrial area under the jurisdiction of the Shamli Kotwali police station. The Ankit Balian murder case had become a major topic of discussion, with the opposition also raising the issue seriously.

Earlier, Shamli District Magistrate (DM) Alok Yadav and Superintendent of Police (SP) AP Singh had visited the deceased’s village, Bantikheda, to meet his father, Satveer Singh, and the rest of the family, assuring them of swift action. Before this, the family had expressed dissatisfaction with the police’s slow pace and had given a four-day ultimatum for action.

Shamli Police Provides Details of the Encounter

Shamli SP Narendra Pratap Singh shared key details regarding the case. He stated that Ankit Balian, a well-known Haryanvi singer from the area, had been murdered. Subsequently, the SWAT team, surveillance unit, and all SHOs, ASPs, and COs (City and Kairana) were assigned to the case. He mentioned that orders had been issued to implement a blockade plan from midnight until 6 AM to ensure no vehicle could enter the district without being checked.

The SP further explained that early Monday at 4 AM, while SHO Virendra Kasana of Hijana was conducting checks near his station, he spotted a motorcycle approaching from Karnal. Police personnel stationed at the blockade attempted to stop the vehicle; two accused were riding the bike. They immediately opened fire at the police.

The officers narrowly escaped, although their vehicle was hit by a bullet. They immediately sent a message over the wireless system. The suspects’ vehicle sped away and turned towards Kairana. Later, when the accused reached beneath the Manna Madra bridge, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Kotwali station, Dharmendra Gautam, was conducting a check. He attempted to stop them, but they opened fire, shattering the vehicle’s windshield.

He immediately challenged them. The suspects turned left towards the city. An alert had already been issued over the wireless network, so the SWAT team, the surveillance in-charge, the SHO, the City CO, the ASP, and the Kairana CO all arrived at the scene. Following a prolonged encounter, the police shot dead both accused. Two police personnel were also injured in the incident.

Murder Investigation Extends to Haryana

The murder case of Haryanvi singer Ankit Baliyan is directly linked to Haryana. Police teams from Shamli and Meerut have arrived in the Haryana districts of Hisar, Rohtak, and Karnal. The investigation so far suggests that the accused shooters may hail from these districts.
