New Delhi: Several parts of the country are grappling with floods due to monsoon rains. There appears to be little hope for immediate relief from the rainfall, causing significant hardship for the public. Torrential rains could spell trouble in various regions of the country in the coming days. Landslides triggered by rain in the mountainous areas of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand have disrupted traffic on several routes.
Commuters are facing difficulties due to debris accumulating on the roads. The threat of rain looms large over several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warnings for 26 states. Details regarding the weather forecast for these regions are provided below.
Heavy Rain Warning for 26 States
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for torrential rains across 26 states for August 30. According to the IMD, heavy rainfall alerts have been issued for UP, Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.
Conditions favourable for heavy rainfall are also likely to persist in Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Assam. The department has warned that intense rainfall could create hazardous conditions in Tripura, Nagaland, Sikkim, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana. During this period, wind speeds could reach 80 to 90 kmph in several states. There is a possibility that standing crops in farmers’ fields could be flattened by the winds, potentially leading to agricultural losses.
Heavy Rain and Storms Expected in Delhi
According to the India Meteorological Department, warnings for heavy rain and storms have been issued for August 30. An alert has been sounded for strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 50 kmph. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius tomorrow, August 30. The minimum temperature here is expected to hover around 28 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is predicted for Mathura, Agra, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Kushinagar, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Hamirpur, Jhansi, and Lalitpur in UP. Additionally, an alert for heavy rain has been issued for Mahoba, Raebareli, Mirzapur, Pratapgarh, Banda, Fatehpur, Kanpur, Shamli, Badaun, Etawah, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Deoria, and Basti. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature on August 30 is expected to be 31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to remain around 27 degrees Celsius.
Weather forecast for Bihar
According to the Meteorological Department, a warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for Gaya, Bhojpur, Siwan, Jehanabad, Gopalganj, Patna, and Buxar in Bihar. The IMD has forecast rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Gopalganj, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Purnia, Araria, Bhagalpur, Munger, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, and Khagaria. Strong winds blowing at speeds of 55 to 60 kilometres per hour are also expected. On August 30, the maximum temperature is likely to be 33 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature expected to reach around 28 degrees Celsius.
