Nowadays, diabetes has become a common disease which is spreading rapidly among people, due to which many types of changes and symptoms are seen in the body of people, one of the main symptoms is frequent hunger.

Often we think that if we eat more food, our body will get more strength, but if someone is suffering from diabetes, then no matter how much he eats, he still feels hungry and his weight also starts decreasing gradually.

In this article, we will learn what diabetes is and why the patient feels very hungry when he has it and what we should do to avoid it.

What is diabetes?

It is a disease in which the glucose in the body’s blood becomes more than normal. When we eat food, our body converts that food into glucose and this glucose reaches the body’s cells and provides energy to the body. Insulin does the work of converting this glucose into energy by transporting it to the body’s cells. This insulin salt hormone is made in the pancreas. When the pancreas is not able to make the right amount of insulin or is not able to use the insulin in the right amount, then the level of sugar in the blood starts increasing and this condition is called diabetes.

Whatever we eat, our body converts it into glucose and this glucose reaches our cells and provides energy to our body and this process is completed by the insulin hormone and when the body does not produce sufficient amount of insulin or our body is not able to use insulin properly then the level of glucose in the blood increases and when glucose is not able to enter the cells then the body does not get energy and it tells our brain again and again that it is hungry and we feel hungry again and again, this is the reason that even after some time of eating food, the patient feels hungry again and again.

  • If a diabetic patient experiences frequent hunger pangs, you should make some lifestyle changes that will help prevent this frequent hunger pangs. Increase your intake of fiber and protein-rich foods and reduce white rice, refined flour, sweets, and refined carbohydrates, as these rapidly raise and lower blood sugar levels, leading to frequent hunger. Consuming fiber and protein-rich foods, such as vegetables and sprouted grains, takes longer to digest, keeping you full for longer and reducing your hunger pangs.
  • Drink plenty of water, as our brain often misunderstands the difference between hunger and thirst, and even when we’re thirsty, we often feel hungry. Drink water whenever you feel hungry. If you’re feeling hungry due to a lack of water, drinking water will help you feel full.
  • You need to decide the time of your meal and the quantity of food you eat. Do not eat too much at one time, instead eat small portions four to five times a day. This keeps your blood sugar level in control and you do not feel very hungry suddenly.
  • You should exercise regularly and walk for at least 30 minutes daily. This improves the insulin sensitivity of the body and the cells are able to use glucose properly and also maintains energy in your body.
