Methi Puri Ingredients
Methi puri doesn’t require many ingredients to prepare. All you need is fenugreek flour and a few spices.
- 2 cups wheat flour
- 1 cup fresh green fenugreek leaves
- 1 teaspoon celery seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
- Water as needed
- Oil for frying the puris
The complete method for making fenugreek puris
First, you need to collect fresh fenugreek leaves and remove the stems from each leaf. Then, wash them thoroughly two to three times with clean water to remove any dirt and grime and to clean the fenugreek seeds. After removing them from the water, finely chop all the leaves.
Now it’s time to prepare the flour and add the ingredients. For this, first take a large bowl and add the wheat flour. Now, mix the finely chopped fenugreek leaves, celery seeds, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and salt into the flour. After this, add a tablespoon of oil or ghee and mix all the ingredients thoroughly. Once everything is well combined, add water little by little and knead a stiff dough for the puris. Be careful to knead the dough as needed, adding water little by little. Don’t make the dough runny, otherwise the puris won’t turn out right. Therefore, keep the dough a little stiff. Once the dough is ready, cover it and let it rest for about 10 minutes.
The next step is to roll out the puris. Make small balls of the prepared dough and shape them into puris with a rolling pin. Roll out all the puris and place them on a plate so that only the frying process is left during frying.
The next step is to fry the puris in hot oil. For this, heat the oil in a pan and add the rolled puris one by one to the oil and press them lightly with a spatula to puff them up. Fry the puris until golden and crisp on both sides. After this, take it out and place it on a plate.
Now your fenugreek puri is ready. If you want, you can eat fenugreek puri with curd, pickle, and chutney.
