You don’t need a tandoor or a stove to make Litti Chokha. You can easily prepare delicious and crispy Litti using a pressure cooker. Now, you’re wondering how? We’ve explained in detail how you can make these crispy Litti, with a spicy Sattu filling, in a pressure cooker.

So, let’s learn the easy recipe!

Ingredients for making Litti:

  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as desired

Ingredients for the Sattu Stuffing

  • 1 cup Sattu
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 2 finely chopped green chilies
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 3-4 finely chopped garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons coriander leaves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon pickle spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon nigella seeds
  • 1 tablespoon mustard oil
  • Salt to taste

Ingredients for making Chokha:

  • 1 large eggplant
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 boiled potatoes
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 2 green chilies
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tablespoon mustard oil
  • Salt to taste

Litti Chokha Recipe Method

The first step is to prepare the dough. For this, you’ll need to take a large bowl and add wheat flour. Add salt, carom seeds, and ghee as desired. Mix thoroughly. Now, add water little by little and knead the dough. Make sure the dough isn’t too runny. Once kneaded, cover it and set it aside for 15-20 minutes.

Now it’s time for Step 2, which is to make the sattu stuffing. For this, take the sattu in a bowl and mix it with chopped onion, chopped green chilies, grated ginger, garlic paste, finely chopped coriander leaves, carom seeds, nigella seeds, pickle masala, and salt as desired. Add mustard oil and lemon juice and mix everything thoroughly.

The next step is to fill the litti with the masala. For this, you’ll need to take the kneaded dough and make small balls of it. Press them with your palm to shape them into a bowl, and fill the center with the prepared sattu mixture. Once you’ve filled them with the mixture, secure them tightly with flour from all sides, covering them tightly so the mixture doesn’t spill out. Shape them into a ball. Prepare all the littis in this manner.

Now comes Step 4, which is to bake the littis in a pressure cooker. For this, you need to take a pressure cooker, heat it slightly, and place all the littis in it. Place them in such a way that they don’t stick together. After placing them, cover the cooker and, without turning the whistle, cook on low heat for about 20-30 minutes. Keep opening them occasionally, checking and turning them over so they are thoroughly cooked on all sides. Once they turn golden brown, remove all the littis and drizzle them with ghee.

Step 5 is a separate step for preparing chokha. For this, you need to take eggplant and tomatoes and roast them thoroughly on the stove. After roasting, let them cool and then peel them. Now, take a vessel and add the roasted eggplant, tomatoes, and boiled potatoes to it. Mash them thoroughly. After mashing, add finely chopped onions, green chilies, garlic, coriander leaves, and salt to the mixture. Drizzle mustard oil over the mixture and mix everything thoroughly. This will prepare the mixture, which will be made into a delicious Bihari chokha.

Now it’s time to eat. For this, lightly break the hot litti and add desi ghee to it. Enjoy it with eggplant-potato chokha, green chilies, onions, pickle, or green chitni. Your famous Bihari litti chokha is ready, and without the need for a tandoor or stove.
