A minor was allegedly gang-raped near Kalkaji; the accused had come posing as policemen.
A case of alleged gang-rape of a 17-year-old girl has come to light in the Kalkaji area of Delhi. According to the police, three men, claiming to be policemen, stopped the teenager and her friend and then allegedly raped her. The incident is said to have taken place on Monday evening in a park located between Kalkaji Temple and ISKCON Temple.
According to the policemen, the teenager had reached Kalkaji temple with her 17-year-old friend around 7 pm. After worshipping in the temple, both of them went towards the park at around 7:30 pm. Meanwhile, three people allegedly introduced themselves as policemen and threatened both of them.
After receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot and the teenager was sent for medical examination. The police have registered a case and started investigation. Since the victim is a minor, no information regarding her identity has been made public.

According to police, the teenager had gone to the temple with her friend. From there both of them reached a nearby park. It is alleged that during this time three people came to him and introduced themselves as policemen.
According to the police, the accused allegedly threatened both of them and then committed the crime with the teenager. The police received information about the case through a PCR call at around 8:45 pm.
As soon as the information was received, the police team reached the spot. Officials gathered information from the scene and surrounding area and began investigation.
One accused arrested, search continues for two others
Policemen have arrested one accused in the case. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Asif and was arrested after an encounter.
Police are now searching for the other two accused involved in the case. Investigation is underway to confirm his identity and role.
Investigating agencies are scanning CCTV footage of the park and surrounding areas. Along with this, information is also being collected from the people present nearby at the time of the incident.
CCTV footage attempts to reach the accused
Following the incident, police began examining footage from CCTV cameras installed in the park and surrounding streets. Officials say this could help identify the accused and confirm the sequence of events.
The police are also trying to find out how the accused reached the victim and her friend and what were their activities before the incident.

A case has also been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Since the victim is 17 years old, relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have also been invoked. The police stated that action is also being taken under other applicable legal provisions.
The teenager has been sent for medical examination and the investigation is being carried forward on the basis of her statement. Police are investigating the role of the accused and all aspects related to the incident.
