New Delhi: Amidst rising tensions in the Middle East, a significant development has emerged: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon visit Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. This visit comes at a time when West Asia is grappling with the conflict and tension between the US and Iran. Before visiting Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister will attend the SCO summit in Kyrgyzstan.
Discussions on various issues are expected during this summit. Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister, Saidov Bakhtiyor Odilovich, stated that the objective of his four-day visit to India was to prepare for PM Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Uzbekistan. He emphasised the strengthening of mutual cooperation between the two nations. During delegation-level talks with External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar on Monday, Saidov noted that his discussions with the Indian leadership were part of the regular dialogue between the two sides.
Agreement on PM Modi’s Visit
Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Saidov mentioned that they had discussed several issues over the phone just ten days ago. He added that during his visit to India, they had agreed to hold meetings and discussions specifically to prepare for the Prime Minister’s trip to Uzbekistan.
He described this visit as a practical extension of the ongoing dialogue between the two countries, noting that both sides have consistently utilised global platforms and events to strengthen their mutual ties. He further stated that he and his entire delegation had received specific instructions to visit India to facilitate preparations for PM Modi’s visit to Uzbekistan.
India A Trusted Friend
He remarked that this visit offers an opportunity to give fresh momentum to the bilateral relations between India and Uzbekistan. He also described India as a trusted partner, noting that New Delhi is considered one of Uzbekistan’s most important strategic and trade partners in South Asia.
Saidov Bakhtiyor is currently on a high-level official visit to India from August 2 to August 5. Earlier on Monday, he met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and subsequently held detailed talks with External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar.
PM Narendra Modi to visit Uzbekistan after the summit
It is worth noting that PM Narendra Modi will first arrive to participate in the summit, where he will hold discussions with representatives from several countries. Following this, he will visit Uzbekistan. This visit is considered highly significant for bilateral relations between India and Uzbekistan, and agreements on key issues are expected to be signed. However, the official schedule for his visit has not yet been released.
