Asanya, wife of Shubham who was killed in Pahalgam attack, demanded martyr status for her husband, saying that this can give me a reason to live.
Pahalgam Attack: Shubham’s wife Asanya, who was killed in the terrorist attack on 22 April 2025, has demanded to give martyr status to her husband Shubham. She said that many lives were saved because of her husband, so he should be given martyr status. The terrorists shot my husband first because they took time to ask whether we are Hindus or Muslims, by then the rest of the people got a chance to run away from there, due to which many lives were saved.
Both of them got married some time ago
Many people lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack, among whom businessman Shubham was also one. 31-year-old Shubham of Kanpur got married to Asanya on 12 February. Both of them had gone for a walk in the Baisaran Ghat ground near Pahalgam, in which the terrorists asked about his religion and shot Shubham in the terrorist attack.
Demanded martyr status
Asanya, wife of Shubham who was killed in Pahalgam attack, has demanded from the government that her husband Shubham be given martyr status, I do not want anything else from the government because my husband was the first one to get shot.
The terrorists asked whether we are Hindu or Muslim and it took a lot of time and many people got a chance to save their lives, so my husband should be given martyr status and this will also give me a reason to live, otherwise I have no reason to live. Asanya said that those who ask religion and then shoot should be eliminated, she is very sad and shocked as well as angry with the death of her husband.

Pahalgam Attack, Asanya said that as soon as the terrorists came to us, they asked us whether we are Hindus or Muslims, at that time I thought they were joking and I laughingly asked them what was happening, after that as soon as my husband said that we are Hindus, they shot my husband, I did not understand anything but my world was destroyed. I asked the terrorists to shoot me too, but they refused and said no we will not shoot you so that you can go and tell the government what had happened.
Men were targeted
Regarding the Pahalgam attack, Babita Chauhan, Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, said that only those people who were in couples were targeted and were asked to go upstairs. The terrorists targeted the husbands of the women because they probably knew that in Hindu families, the man is the head of the household. That is why they targeted the men so that their wives would be left crying and wailing in their wake.
Son killed in his own country due to religion
Father of Shubham who was killed in Pahalgam attack, said after Shubham’s last rites that, my son has travelled to 18 countries before this and has returned safely to his country but he was shot in the name of religion in his own country. Let us tell you that Shubham’s last rites were performed on last Friday where many people reached to console the family members, Shubham’s father and family members have appealed to the government to give martyr status to his son and his daughter-in-law should be given a job according to her qualification so that she can live a happy life.
