New Delhi: The top leadership of the BJP has begun preparations for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Amit Shah recently visited the state, delivering several significant political messages. Now, BJP national leader Nitin Navin has also arrived in Gorakhpur, UP, and held a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. During this meeting, chaired by Nitin Navin, future strategies were discussed in detail.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and several other prominent state-level leaders. Discussions covered the performance of the current government, internal surveys regarding potential candidates, and the dynamics of caste-based equations. A key question now arises: on which issues will the BJP choose to contest the upcoming elections, especially given that the ‘INDIA’ alliance, through its ‘PDA’ (Pichde, Dalit, Alpsankhyak – Backward classes, Dalits, and Minorities) strategy, dealt a major blow to the BJP in the 2024 elections? The BJP is now aiming to approach the electoral battle with careful deliberation.

Discussion on Internal Candidate Surveys
A meeting of the BJP’s core committee was held at the ‘Annexy Bhawan’ in Gorakhpur—Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s home district—to formulate strategies for the Assembly elections. The session included an in-depth discussion on internal surveys conducted to evaluate potential candidates. The party is closely monitoring the political landscape in each region and gauging public sentiment regarding prospective candidates.
The meeting was attended by national leader Nitin Navin, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, State President Pankaj Chaudhary, UP election in-charge Vinod Tawde, State General Secretary (Organisation) Dharampal Singh, and both Deputy Chief Ministers, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak.
Strategy for Addressing Caste-Based Equations
A central focus of the core committee meeting held in the presence of the BJP national leader was the issue of caste-based mobilisation. The BJP deliberated on how to counter the caste-based electoral strategies employed by the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress. The party faces the challenge of maintaining its outreach and support base across various social segments. Additionally, the results of the recent MLC (Legislative Council) elections were also a key topic of discussion, with a particular emphasis on the party’s performance and organisational strength in the Purvanchal region. Congress persistently demands the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.

Amid preparations for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the opposition alliance has been consistently demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging irregularities. On Tuesday, the Congress stated that if Home Minister Amit Shah is serious about convening a special session of Parliament to address the issue of ‘vote theft,’ he should first secure the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar.
