New Delhi: The monsoon is now displaying its fierce side. Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc across most parts of the country. With a mix of intermittent and continuous rainfall, the situation remains critical. Widespread rain across North India, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand,d has caused temperatures to drop, bringing people relief from the heat. Meanwhile, winds blowing at speeds of 60 km/h are sweeping through the northeastern states.
The combination of wind and rain has completely disrupted normal life, significantly worsening the situation. South India is also experiencing spells of heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain warnings for several states. Read on for detailed weather forecasts for specific regions.

What will the weather be like in UP?
According to the Meteorological Department, weather conditions are expected to be turbulent today, August 19. In Lucknow, the capital of UP, the maximum temperature is likely to be 33°C and the minimum 28°C. Heavy rainfall is expected in districts such as Meerut, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Aligarh, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Saharanpur, and Muzaffarnagar. Additionally, heavy rain is predicted for Prayagraj, Sonbhadra, Kaushambi, Mirzapur, Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Bijnor, Budaun, and Siddharthnagar. Warnings for heavy rainfall have also been issued for Sitapur, Hardoi, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Gonda, and Deoria.
Heavy rain to cause trouble in these states
Cloudy skies and rainfall are predicted for the capital, Delhi, and the NCR region. Rain in the surrounding areas will lead to a drop in temperature, offering relief from the heat. The IMD has issued heavy rain warnings for Bihar (August 19–20) and Jharkhand (August 20–22). Heavy rainfall is also expected in the Gangetic plains today. A warning for extremely heavy rainfall has been issued for Uttarakhand, effective from today until August 24.

Thunderstorms and lightning strikes are expected in several parts of the state. Rain is also likely to continue in Jammu and Kashmir until August 23. Rainfall warnings have been issued for western Madhya Pradesh for August 18–19, as well as for August 23 and 24; thunderstorms and lightning are expected in both eastern and western Madhya Pradesh until August 22.
Heavy Rain Expected Here Too
The Meteorological Department predicts a spell of rain in Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Manali, and all high-altitude areas until August 22. The IMD has issued rainfall warnings for Haryana and Chandigarh for August 19 and 22, and an alert has also been issued for Punjab. Warnings for significant rainfall have been issued for western Uttar Pradesh, including Noida and Ghaziabad (adjacent to Delhi), for August 19 and 22.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is expected in the Purvanchal region from August 21 to 24. A warning for light to moderate rain has been issued for Rajasthan, and rainfall is also likely in Chhattisgarh on August 21–22. Additionally, rain is expected across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura through August 24.
