New Delhi: Monsoon rainfall is currently at its peak across most parts of India. The rains have caused several rivers to swell, disrupting transportation. Flood-like conditions prevail in some areas, exacerbating the situation. Heavy rains in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have triggered landslides in the mountains, leading to road closures and causing difficulties for commuters. Traffic jams have also been reported in several locations.
Various parts of Uttar Pradesh have been experiencing heavy downpours since morning. Intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely to continue in several regions of South India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warnings for multiple states.
Torrential Rain Alert for 21 States
According to the Meteorological Department, a heavy rainfall warning has been issued for September 2 across 21 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Punjab. The IMD has also issued alerts for heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand.
The department has predicted heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Assam, Tripura, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 80 km/h are also expected during this period.
Weather Forecast for Delhi
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain in Delhi today, September 2, extending into the late evening. Intense rainfall is expected, potentially accompanied by winds blowing at speeds of up to 50 km/h. On September 2, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 32°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 26°C.
Heavy Rain Expected in UP
The IMD has forecast heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Saharanpur, Azamgarh, and Sonbhadra. In addition to these areas, alerts for torrential rain have been issued for Maharajganj, Mirzapur, Ballia, Deoria, Siddharthnagar, Moradabad, and Kanpur.
The IMD has also forecast rain for Rampur, Mainpuri, Lalitpur, Sitapur, Bahraich, Kannauj, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, and Kushinagar. Strong winds reaching speeds of 65 to 70 km/h are expected. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature today is likely to be 30°C, while the minimum is expected to be 26°C.
Heavy Rain Alert for Bihar
The IMD has predicted heavy rain in Siwan, Gaya, Jehanabad, Patna, Buxar, Rohtas, Kaimur, Madhepura, Purnia, Bhagalpur, and Katihar. The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Banka, Munger, and Jamui. Stormy winds blowing at 70 km/h may persist in these areas. There is also a risk of damage due to lightning strikes.
Heavy Rain Warning for Jharkhand
The Meteorological Department has forecast rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in Ranchi, Ramgarh, Pakur, Jamtara, Dumka, Hazaribagh, Giridih, and Jamshedpur. Additionally, torrential rain is likely in Ramgarh, Khunti, West Singhbhum, Lohardaga, Seraikela, and Gumla.

Heavy Rain Warning for Haryana
The IMD has issued a heavy rain warning for Faridabad, Jind, Kaithal, Rewari, Yamunanagar, Sirsa, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Gurugram, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jhajjar, Sonipat, Panipat, and Palwal. The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert for strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 50 km/h.
