The incident took place at the kottukkal temple during a ganamela which held on sunday morning. a professional music troupe performed the rss’s gan geetam which sparked critiism from various quaters. the congress party has strongly opposed the inclusion of the rss song in a temple event and has demanded strict action against those responsible. the party alleged that religious places should not be used to promote the political ideology. they have also questioned how a temple run by the government controlled TDB allowed such an act. the incident has added to the ongoing debate over the use of temples for political messaging with calls growing the louder for maintaining the secular nature of religious institutions in the state.

As per the reports, There are other allegations on RSS where it is said that the RSS flags were places inside the temple premises as part of the festival celebrations. leader of the opposition in the kerala assembly v.d. satheesan, expressed serious concern over the singing of the RSS’s Ganageetam during the temple festival. he urged the Travancore devaswom board TDB to take the immediate and strict action against those responsible.
