This is a recipe that’s perfect for breakfast and even better for evening snacks. So, today we’re going to share with you Lentil Dosa, a great snack option that’s both healthy and tasty. You might have typically made and eaten dosa with rice and urad dal, but today we’re going to share a dosa made with lentils.

To make this lentil dosa, you’ll need simple ingredients and it doesn’t require much effort. It’s ready in no time. You can serve it with coconut chutney, green chutney, or sambar. Some people also prefer it with sauce, so let’s learn the easy recipe for crispy lentil dosa.

Ingredients for Lentil Dosa

  • Lentil – 1 cup
  • Rice – 1/2 cup
  • Semolina – 2 tablespoons
  • Ginger – 1 small piece
  • Green chili – 1 (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Cumin – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt – to taste
  • Water – as needed
  • Oil – for frying the dosa
  • Finely chopped coriander – 1 tablespoon
  • Onion – 1 small onion, finely chopped

Method for Making Lentil Dosa

First, soak the lentils and rice for a few hours. Clean and wash them thoroughly. Put them in a large bowl and soak them.

Now, prepare the dosa batter. Drain the soaked lentils and rice from the water. Now, put them in a mixer and grind them well. To the ground rice and lentils, add the ginger paste, green chili paste, and a little water and grind them again. Do not make the batter too thin. Keep it thick enough to make dosa.

Now transfer the ground mixture to a large bowl. Add semolina, cumin seeds, salt, and finely chopped coriander and onion, mixing well.

Now your batter is ready. Cover and let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes. Once this time is up, heat the pan.

To make dosa, use a non-stick or cast iron pan. Heat the pan thoroughly over medium heat. Sprinkle a few drops of water on the pan. Once the water evaporates, spread the batter onto the pan and shape it into a dosa.

Now, lightly oil the pan and spread it using a cloth or a half-cut onion. Fry it on both sides. Once it’s done, turn it over and serve.
