Bus Falls into Gorge on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, 8 Passengers Killed

New Delhi: A major accident occurred on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Near Dausa, Rajasthan, a private bus collided with a trailer and plunged into a ditch. Subsequently, the bus caught fire, sparking panic and chaos. Eight people lost their lives in the incident, leaving passengers screaming in distress. The accident took place between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM while the bus was en route from Haridwar to Indore.

Most passengers were fast asleep. Upon receiving news of the accident, the Kolwa police station team arrived at the scene and transported the injured to the hospital via ambulance. Treatment is currently underway, with several victims reported to be in critical condition. The death toll is expected to rise.

Injured Admitted to Hospital

Following the accident, police—assisted by locals—rescued passengers trapped inside the bus and transported them to the hospital by ambulance. Some passengers managed to escape the bus on their own. According to eyewitnesses, a massive fire broke out in the rear of the bus shortly after the crash; the sight of the flames caused panic.

Police personnel and locals worked tirelessly, putting in immense effort to rescue those trapped. Eight people died, and 25 were injured in the accident. The injured were admitted to Dausa District Hospital for treatment. Several critically injured victims were referred to advanced medical centres after receiving initial care. A large number of the injured passengers are women and children.

Senior Officials Visit the Scene

Upon learning of the tragic accident, several senior officials rushed to the site. Additional Superintendent of Police Yogendra Faujdar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Kumar, Kotwali Station House Officer Bhagwan Sahay Sharma, Sub-Divisional Officer Sanju Meena, and Tehsildar Gajanan Meena visited the district hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured. The officials instructed the medical staff to ensure the best possible treatment and wished the victims a speedy recovery.

Investigation into the accident begins.

An investigation has been launched into the tragic road accident. District Collector Dr Saumya stated that 24 to 25 people were injured and approximately 7 to 8 fatalities have been reported following the accident, which occurred on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway at 3:00 AM on Wednesday.
