New Delhi: Political activity surrounding the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections has already intensified, with political parties trading accusations. The Samajwadi Party (SP), the main opposition in the state assembly, is relentlessly attacking the BJP. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has sharply targeted the BJP, taking them to task amidst the ongoing “politics of color.
Akhilesh Yadav stated that upon forming the government, they would constitute a committee to establish tie-ups with universities in Cambridge, Oxford, and the European Union, and send students there; they would work towards defining the future structure of student unions. He further added that the SP’s PDA stands for Positive, Democratic, and Affirmative Action.
What did Akhilesh Yadav say about the issue of color?
Targeting the BJP, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav remarked that while the opposition fears colors, they do not fear God. He alleged that BJP members stole donations meant for the Lord Ram temple and have now looted funds allocated for the ‘Ram Van Gaman Path’ (the route taken by Lord Ram during his exile). He accused the BJP of initiating negative campaigning.
“They have even officially posted a ‘negative’ photo of me. We are urging the BJP to contest elections based on fundamental issues rather than running negative campaigns; however, if they do, we will respond in kind.” He also played a video song featuring CM Yogi Adityanath on screen. Subsequently, in response to a question, he stated that a Samajwadi government would allocate a separate budget to promote AI and develop infrastructure.
Akhilesh’s jibe at the “disgruntled uncle” remark
Akhilesh Yadav took a dig at PM Modi’s “disgruntled uncle” (naraz phupha) remark, stating that the Prime Minister had failed to understand his point. He asserted that the BJP government has ruined the country’s economy, noting that several economists have pointed out that GDP growth has been zero over the past few months.
Furthermore, regarding the disruption of the Janmashtami event in Sultanpur, he demanded a high-level inquiry into the manner in which those seeking dominance obstructed the worship rituals. Regarding the remarks made by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Social Welfare Asim Arun concerning the announcement of a holiday for Emperor Ashoka’s birth anniversary, it was stated that he would lose the election this time.
SP Changes Student Wing’s Uniform
The Samajwadi Party has taken a major decision ahead of the assembly elections. The party has changed the uniform of its frontal organization, the Chhatra Sabha (student wing). Now, party workers will be seen wearing blue T-shirts and trousers. The Chhatra Sabha logo will also be printed on the T-shirts.
It is believed that this change has been made to strengthen the Dalit equation within the party’s ‘PDA’ formula for the 2027 assembly elections. Akhilesh Yadav has associated the color blue with the Constitution, freedom, and democracy.
