Neha Bora

New Delhi: Neha Bora, National President of the All India Students’ Association (AISA), was taken into preventive custody by the Delhi Police during a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ (Tricolour March). She was released by the police after midnight, following the completion of formal procedures under Section 65 of the relevant Act. Upon her release, Neha Bora expressed strong indignation toward the Delhi administration, raising serious questions regarding the rights of ordinary citizens. She also demanded the release of other protesters who remain in custody, including Abhijit Deepke, the founder of the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’. With Deepke still in police custody, all eyes are now on what the Delhi Police’s next move will be regarding him.

“The government has crossed the line into illegality – Neha Bora

AISA National President Neha Bora has raised serious concerns regarding the detention process. She stated that the Indian government has long since crossed the line between what is legal and what is illegal. It has become a recurring pattern in these protests for individuals to be taken into custody without any concrete justification.

People are often held for hours on end. She added that this reality has become even more apparent, as it is happening daily throughout this movement: protesters are being detained, only to be released the following morning or evening. She further remarked on how these detentions are being used to instil fear among the general public, a point she noted was clearly illustrated by today’s events, which she experienced firsthand.

Criticism directed at Gyanesh Kumar

Bora also targeted Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, a central figure in this controversy,sy as well as the central government. She urged both Gyanesh Kumar and the BJP to shed their arrogance, adding that she and her associates stand firmly in support of those affected. The situation has a direct impact on the businesses of all traders. Therefore, we urge Gyanesh Kumar and the BJP to set aside their ego and ensure the CEC’s resignation, so that traders do not suffer any losses.

Law and order being flouted – Neha

AISA President Neha Bora questioned the actions of the Delhi Police, stating that law and order are being flouted on a daily basis. Ordinary citizens are treated as if they were dangerous, hardened criminals, a pattern that has been observed in the country for a long time. The ongoing protest has clearly brought this situation to light. We are witnessing people being taken into custody during the day or in the evening, held throughout the night, and then released the following morning.
