New Delhi: A ‘Tiranga Yatra’ (Tricolour March) planned at Connaught Place in the national capital, Delhi, failed to take off due to tight police security. Abhijit Dipke, founder of the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP), was taken into custody by the police the moment he stepped out of his residence. It is not yet known where the Delhi Police have taken him. Furthermore, Neha Bora, national president of the All India Students’ Association (AISA), was also taken into custody before she could reach Connaught Place.
Supporters created a significant commotion when both leaders were detained. The police cited a violation of rules as the reason for the detention. Neha was taken into custody from Mandi House. During the incident, she stated that this is a fight to save India, a struggle that will continue. There was also mention of the possibility of them being sent to Tihar Jail.
Dipke was detained upon leaving his home.
On October 14, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke had called for a ‘Lehra Do Tiranga Yatra’ (Let the Tricolour Fly March) to be held on October 16. However, the Delhi Police had not granted any permission for this event. Police initially arrived at the residence where Dipke was staying, attempting to persuade him against it.
Dipke remained adamant about carrying out the march. As soon as he stepped out of the house, the police immediately took him into custody. A video of the detention is circulating on social media, in which Dipke can be heard saying, “I am alone, I am alone.

Outrage over Dipke’s detention
Sanjay Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), questioned the detention of CJP founder Abhijit Dipke. On the social media platform X, he remarked, “When destruction is imminent, one’s judgment becomes clouded (vinash kale vipreet buddhi). Modi-ji, why are you so afraid of the Tricolour? What do you hope to achieve by detaining Abhijit Dipke? The movement will only grow, and the Tricolour will fly even higher.”
AAP also organises a ‘Tiranga March’
Saurabh Bharadwaj, president of the Delhi unit of the Aam Aadmi Party, also lashed out at the government, asserting that they are “fully prepared.” We have hundreds of tricolours. We will hoist the national flag in various parts of central Delhi; this morning, our young associates hoisted a 270-foot-long tricolour in front of Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Parliament. Following this, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers began hoisting the tricolour in front of the party’s Delhi office.
Deepke violated the law – Delhi Police.
According to the Delhi Police, Abhijit Deepke, the founder of CJP, has been taken into custody for violating the law. The Delhi Police has imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in the areas surrounding Connaught Place.
