It’s a feeling that causes a constant sense of nervousness and fear about the future, and can lead to shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it’s becoming a critical illness to address, as millions of people worldwide are suffering from it. In this article, we’ll explore its symptoms, causes, diagnosis, and treatment in detail.

Physical effects – Physical symptoms include sudden increase in heart beat or feeling of heaviness in the chest, apart from this, any person may experience excessive sweating even without exertion and difficulty in breathing and stomach cramps or frequent diarrhea and feeling tired and weak, these are the major physical symptoms seen.

Mental symptoms – This problem also affects a person mentally in which the person is always afraid of something bad happening and he does not feel like doing any work and his concentration decreases, even after lying in bed he is unable to sleep for a long time and the person starts getting irritable and angry over every small thing.

Causes of Anxiety

There can be many major reasons for a person to have this problem. Let us know about them –

Genetic – If someone in the family already had this problem, then it is quite possible that you too may have this problem.

Drug abuse – When a person starts consuming alcohol or caffeine in excess. Past incident – Death of a loved one in the person’s life or any accident that happened in the past which he has not been able to forget till now.

Illness – Thinking about any serious disease like cancer or any heart disease which is not curable.

Stress – Financial constraints, job pressure and problems in mutual relationships and fear of losing a loved one.

Diagnosis and Treatment

Anxiety is not a serious illness; if diagnosed and treated promptly, you can overcome it –

Yoga and Exercise: Yoga and exercise are very helpful in relieving anxiety. You should start practicing yoga regularly. Yoga releases chemicals like serotonin and endorphins in the brain, which help alleviate this problem.

Getting Good Sleep: Getting adequate sleep is crucial for relieving anxiety. You should aim for 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily.

Therapy: You can also seek therapy to treat anxiety. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy used to treat anxiety, transforming negative thoughts into positive ones.

Medical Help: If your anxiety symptoms have become severe, you should consult a psychiatrist. They will prescribe medication to help you overcome this problem.
