England Creates History in T20I
Star opener Phil Salt produced a breathtaking knock of 141 runs off 60 balls against South Africa at Old Trafford on Friday, breaking his own England record of 119 against the West Indies in Tarouba (2023). With this innings, Salt became the highest individual run-scorer for England in a T20 International.
In the second T20I, England’s batting lineup completely dominated, becoming the first Test-playing nation to cross the 300-run mark in T20 International cricket. They posted a massive 304/2 in 20 overs, powered by Salt’s record-breaking century and skipper Jos Buttler’s explosive half-century, before sealing victory by 146 runs.

This was the first time in T20I history that a side crossed the 300-run milestone in a match between two Test nations. The previous best was set by India in 2024, when they scored 297/6 against Bangladesh in Hyderabad.
Salt’s innings, decorated with 15 fours and 8 sixes, was a display of aggressive yet controlled batting. At the other end, Buttler added crucial momentum with a stunning 83 off 30 balls at a strike rate of 276.67, hitting eight fours and seven sixes.

Adding to the carnage, Harry Brook contributed a quickfire 41 off 21 balls, while Jacob Bethell smashed 26 off 15, ensuring England maintained their pace in the middle and death overs. The dominant performance not only set a new benchmark in T20 cricket but also underlined England’s batting firepower on the global stage.
