FIR filed against AAP leaders for allegedly mistreating a police officer in Tilak Nagar
An FIR has been filed against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and workers in Tilak Nagar, Delhi, for allegedly mistreating a Delhi Police head constable and obstructing government work. The FIR names AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bhardwaj and Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh. According to the police, the incident took place on Monday during Arvind Kejriwal’s visit to Tilak Nagar.
Police say the head constable was in plain clothes and was video recording the activities at the spot. Meanwhile, a mob of AAP supporters surrounded him and allegedly assaulted him. After the incident, the policeman was given a medical examination.
This matter has come to light amid a separate dispute between AAP and BJP in Delhi. AAP leaders on Sunday demanded an FIR against PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh for allegedly slapping a youth. During this controversy, a demonstration took place in Tilak Nagar.
The head constable was filming the protest in plain clothes, police explained the entire incident.

According to the police, after the incident the head constable was sent for medical examination. In the case, sections related to obstructing the work of a government employee and allegedly assaulting him while on duty have been imposed.
The FIR, filed on the basis of a police complaint, names Saurabh Bhardwaj, Jarnail Singh and several AAP workers. However, being named in an FIR is part of the charge against a person and does not automatically prove guilt.
Controversy erupts during Arvind Kejriwal’s Tilak Nagar visit
According to police, the incident occurred when Arvind Kejriwal arrived in Tilak Nagar. AAP leaders and workers were present with him. During this time, a situation of controversy arose regarding the video recording by the head constable.
The visit came amid a political controversy in which the AAP was demanding action against Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh. AAP alleges that the minister allegedly assaulted party worker Sahib Singh when he raised questions about the quality of the road. In this case, the police had registered a separate complaint and NCR.
After this, AAP leaders protested demanding the police to register an FIR against the minister. During this demonstration, a case of alleged misbehaviour with a policeman came to light.
Saurabh Bhardwaj and Jarnail Singh’s names are included in the FIR.
