It’s often the same story in every household: if any vegetable or food is left over from the night before, it’s either thrown away the next morning or, if you don’t feel like eating it, it’s eaten with reluctance. But now, no one is going to force you to do that. If you cooked chickpea curry the night before and it’s leftover, there’s no need to throw it away in the morning. Instead of throwing it away, you can use it to make a delicious breakfast that you can enjoy.

You can easily make chickpea kebabs from leftover chickpeas by following these simple tips and enjoy them. They’re quite easy to make. The special thing is that they don’t require many ingredients; your leftover chickpeas will make the kebabs for you. To make these kebabs, all you need to do is use a few spices and they’ll be a great breakfast.

Chickpeas are considered a good source of protein and fiber, so eating kebabs made from them can be very beneficial for your health. These kebabs are easily made by frying them on a pan in minimal oil. You can enjoy them with spicy green chutney or tomato sauce. Let’s learn the complete recipe.

What ingredients are needed to make kebabs?

  • About 1 cup of leftover chickpeas (chickpeas)
  • Finely chopped onion
  • One to two finely chopped green chilies
  • About one teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste
  • Two tablespoons of roasted gram flour
  • Half a teaspoon of red chili powder
  • Half a teaspoon of cumin powder
  • Half a teaspoon of garam masala
  • Half a teaspoon of dry mango powder
  • Salt to taste

The complete method

Now learn the recipe for chole kebabs. First, you need to chop some finely chopped coriander leaves, add a teaspoon of lemon juice, and add the chopped onion. Mix all three ingredients thoroughly. Now add finely chopped onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, and coriander leaves. Then add red chili powder, cumin powder, garam masala, dry mango powder, and salt. Finally, add roasted gram flour and mix everything thoroughly. Grind the remaining chickpeas in a mixer and add them to the mixture, mixing thoroughly.

Once the mixture is ready, form it into round or elongated kebabs. If the mixture seems dry, you can add a spoonful of yogurt to firm it up. Once your kebabs are all shaped, you can use a non-stick or regular pan. Heat it. Add some oil. Set the heat to medium. Once the oil is hot, place the kebabs you’ve prepared one by one on the pan. Cook them on one side for a few minutes. Then, cook the other side until both sides are golden and slightly crispy on the underside.

Cook the kebabs thoroughly on both sides. If you prefer crispier kebabs, you can cook them for a little longer on low heat to ensure they become crispier. Remove them from the pan as soon as they become crispy.

What to serve with?

Once the kebabs are ready, transfer them to a hot plate. You can also drizzle a little lemon over them to enhance their flavor. They can be served with green coriander-mint chutney, yogurt, or a dip of your choice.

In addition to breakfast, they can also be eaten with evening tea. If you have leftover chickpea curry at home, next time, instead of reheating them, try this easy method to turn them into delicious kebabs. This will reduce food waste and provide a new snack for the family.
