Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the youth participating in the ‘Seva Sankalp Yatra’ via video conferencing on Thursday. During the interaction, he remarked that regardless of the amount of power attained in politics, one must not deviate from the path of service. He articulated his views by linking the spirit of service in public life with governance and public welfare.
Modi said that the spirit of ‘public service’ to ‘national service’ has been prominent in his public life. He stressed on the need for ‘service spirit’ and citizen-centre in governance.
The Prime Minister also said that politics, elections and governance have their own roles, but the goal of nation building should be above all these. He described the role of youth as important in taking forward the resolve of ‘Developed India’.
Youth play a crucial role in achieving a developed India by 2047
Prime Minister Modi stated that youth play a crucial role in achieving India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. According to him, youth are not only beneficiaries of this transformation but also key stakeholders in driving it forward.
He appealed to the youth participating in the Seva Sankalp Yatra to understand the country closely. Modi said that youth should meet people from different areas and understand their problems, aspirations and experiences.
He said that to understand the diversity of India, it is important for the youth to go to different areas and interact with people. According to him, ground experience can help the youth understand the real conditions of the country.
The Seva Sankalp Yatra is underway from Vadnagar to Varanasi.
The Seva Sankalp Yatra is starting from Vadnagar and heading towards Varanasi. The yatra involves youth from different states and is taking part in community activities at various places along the way.
According to News On AIR, the yatra began on September 17 and focuses on youth participation, social service and connecting with local communities. During the Yatra, cleanliness drives, activities are being organised in schools, hospitals and other community places.
Currently the yatra has reached Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh. The objective of the programme is to connect youth from different parts of the country and increase communication at the grassroots level through service activities.
Emphasis on Understanding Traditional Knowledge and India’s Diversity
In his address, the Prime Minister also spoke about the need to understand India’s social and cultural diversity. He said that to understand the country, youth should meet people from different regions and communities.
He also talked about giving importance to traditional knowledge and local experiences. During the journey, the youth are getting the opportunity to closely observe the people and their lifestyle while passing through different states and regions.
Modi said that nation building is not only linked to policies and government schemes, but also to the participation of the society. In this context, he stressed on connecting the youth with service and social responsibility.
Linking governance with a spirit of service, PM Modi highlights schemes
In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted some of the government’s schemes, saying that when policies are implemented with a spirit of service, their benefits can reach the last person. He gave examples of schemes like PM-KISAN and PM-Surya Ghar Yojana.
Modi said that the spirit of public service strengthens the reach of government schemes to the last mile. He also mentioned housing and Ujjwala scheme for poor families.
He presented service spirit not just as a political idea but as a process of giving priority to citizens in governance. There may be different assessments regarding the implementation and impact of these schemes, but in his address the Prime Minister presented them as examples of service-based governance.
Appeal to youth to contribute to environmental protection
The Prime Minister encouraged the youth participating in the Seva Sankalp Yatra to also contribute to environmental protection activities. He talked about linking issues like tree plantation and water conservation with nation building.
During the trip, the youth are getting the opportunity to connect with different communities and participate in service activities at the local level. This allows the programme to be presented as a social engagement campaign rather than just a trip.
