New Delhi: Monsoon rains continue to wreak havoc in many parts of India, keeping the situation grim. Flood-like conditions prevail in several areas of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, causing difficulties for commuters. On a positive note, the monsoon has begun to withdraw from various parts of the country, although rainfall is still being observed in the northeastern states.
Conditions caused by the rain have gone from bad to worse. Torrential rains continue in several areas of South India. Thunderstorms accompanied by rain are occurring in the plains of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall across 14 states, with expected wind speeds of 70 to 80 kmph.
Possibility of Heavy Rain in 14 States
According to the IMD, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in 14 states on September 19. Intense rainfall with thunderstorms is expected to continue in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh.
The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for heavy rain and storms in Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. An alert regarding strong winds reaching speeds of 80 kmph has also been issued. Additionally, a warning has been issued regarding potential crop damage for farmers due to this heavy rainfall.
Weather Forecast for Delhi
The IMD has issued a warning for light rain and storms in Delhi for tomorrow, September 19. Gusty winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 kmph are expected. In the capital, the maximum temperature is likely to be 35°C, while the minimum is expected to be 24°C.
Weather Forecast for UP
According to the Meteorological Department, conditions favourable for heavy rain are likely to persist in Meerut, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Agra, and Mathura. The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in Firozabad, Aligarh, Raebareli, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Banda, Pratapgarh, and Kanpur. Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in Fatehpur, Badaun, Etawah, Ghazipur, Deoria, Prayagraj, Chandauli, Varanasi, and Azamgarh.
Conditions are favourable for heavy rain and storms in Basti and Gorakhpur, with strong winds expected to blow at speeds of 30 to 40 kmph. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature tomorrow (September 19) is expected to reach 32°C, while the minimum is likely to be around 26°C.
Weather in Bihar
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in several districts of Bihar. According to the IMD, rain accompanied by storms is likely in Gaya, Jehanabad, Patna, Bhojpur, Siwan, Buxar, Gopalganj, and Saran.
Additionally, torrential rain is possible in Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Saharsa, Supaul, Kishanganj, Purnia, Araria, Bhagalpur, Munger, Katihar, Lakhisarai, and Begusarai. There is also a likelihood of lightning strikes and storms, with strong winds expected to reach speeds of 55 to 60 kmph.
