New Delhi: Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has made a significant statement in response to the demands of students protesting against paper leaks and irregularities in examinations in Ranchi. He assured the House that a fair and impartial investigation into the exam irregularities would be conducted, noting that most of the students’ demands have been accepted. He also launched a scathing attack on the opposition, accusing them of merely playing politics over the issue.
Immediately following the CM’s address, the Assembly proceedings were adjourned sine die. Although the monsoon session was scheduled to conclude on August 12, it was brought to an end a day early. For several days, the youth of Jharkhand, including students and job aspirants, ts have been protesting against irregularities in recruitment examinations.
CM Responds Amidst Uproar in the Assembly
Tuesday witnessed a tumultuous scene in the Jharkhand Assembly. BJP MLAs were protesting against the lathi-charge on students during a march to the Assembly on Monday. Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi demanded an explanation from the CM regarding the alleged excesses and the lathi-charge against the students. The Speaker had to adjourn the proceedings multiple times due to the commotion.
Amidst the uproar in the House, CM Hemant Soren stated that some people were merely playing politics over the entire matter. He noted that various issues regarding examinations ranging from JPSC to CGL had been raised in the House and assured that all these exams would be investigated.
He revealed that a Lucknow-based company, in collusion with individuals from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, was responsible for the irregularities in Jharkhand’s examinations. He asserted that the government’s intent regarding the investigation is absolutely clear; regardless of the noise the BJP makes, the government will continue to do its job.
CM Attacks the BJP
Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren stated that no matter how much of a ruckus the BJP creates, the government will continue its work. He remarked that the party is now engaging in such activities under the guise of students. He further observed that the manner in which the government engaged with the protesting students was appropriate, and the patience demonstrated by both the students and the administration on Monday was unprecedented.
The Chief Minister further stated that most of the students’ demands regarding examination reforms have been accepted, and the remaining demands will also be considered for future improvements. He announced that an inquiry would be conducted into all the competitive examinations in Jharkhand that were administered by the Lucknow-based company, TDPL. Additionally, the government will consult with IIT experts to ensure that examinations are conducted more effectively in the future.
