New Delhi: There is widespread discussion regarding the imminent return of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to her home country. Before returning, Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to hold a press conference in New Delhi on Wednesday. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has clarified the situation regarding this event, specifically concerning her online participation.
Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the event featuring Sheikh Hasina is being organised by a private media entity. He emphasised that the government has no involvement in it; therefore, the Government of India does not endorse any views that might be expressed on the platform. This statement from the Ministry of External Affairs is considered significant ahead of Sheikh Hasina’s return.
Details of the Event Venue
Sheikh Hasina had left Bangladesh for India during the student protests in her country. Now, the former Prime Minister is set to address an event at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia in New Delhi on August 5. However, she will not be physically present at the venue.
Hasina will address the event virtually. The program at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club is scheduled to run from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on August 5. Sheikh Hasina may make a major announcement during this press conference.

Sheikh Hasina to Appear Before the Media After Two Years
Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will appear before the media and interact with them after a gap of nearly two years. The Bangladeshi government is also keeping a close watch on her press conference. The Bangladesh government has been consistently demanding the extradition of Sheikh Hasina.
It is worth noting that Sheikh Hasina found it increasingly difficult to remain in Bangladesh after student protests there turned violent. Due to the deteriorating situation, she was compelled to leave the country and come to India. Since then, she has been living in India as a refugee.
