New Delhi: The ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ had announced a march to Parliament on July 20, drawing a large crowd of students. As the students began marching towards Parliament, the police resorted to a lathi-charge, injuring several protesters. Among the injured was 21-year-old student Sakshi, whose condition was critical.
Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital has now reported an improvement in her condition. According to the hospital doctors, Sakshi still requires further treatment. She was initially placed on a ventilator, but it has since been removed following her recovery.
What do Sakshi’s test reports indicate?
Sakshi underwent medical tests at the hospital two days ago. MRI scans of her brain and spine have returned normal results. Her condition has shown steady improvement since treatment began. A team of doctors is continuously monitoring her health, and she is receiving excellent medical care. Sakshi is the only patient admitted to RML Hospital who was injured in this incident. She is receiving all necessary treatment and care. Further treatment is still required, but there is hope for continued improvement in the coming days, after which she will be discharged from the hospital.
Ventilator removed
Sakshi, the injured protester, is a resident of Chhatarpur Extension, Delhi. She fell during a stampede-like situation that ensued after the police fired tear gas. She sustained injuries to various parts of her body as a result, but her condition is now gradually improving.
Assurance from Government Ministers
After breaking his fast, Sonam Wangchuk explained that intense negotiations with the government had been ongoing for the past two days. However, he insisted on receiving a written assurance, which is why it took two days to reach a decision.
He had to continue the hunger strike for two additional days, though he stated he was prepared to fast for even longer if necessary. He noted that the government finally provided a written assurance today. This written assurance outlines three major conditions.
The Three Conditions on Which Sonam Wangchuk Ended His Fast
Sonam Wangchuk outlined three key points included in the government’s written assurance. The first is that no cases will be registered against those who held peaceful protests at Jantar Mantar or those who participated in the Parliament march on July 20.
The second condition involves holding discussions in Parliament on curbing paper leaks and reforming the examination system to find a permanent solution.
The third condition concerns the government positively considering appropriate compensation for the families of students who recently died by suicide due to the NEET paper leak. After receiving assurances regarding all three demands, Sonam Wangchuk ended his hunger strike by drinking juice offered by J.P. Nadda.
