New Delhi: Questions are being raised these days regarding the Indian government’s education system. The biggest issue among these is the leaking of exam papers, a matter over which young people have been staging a protest at Jantar Mantar for nearly a month. The situation has escalated to the point where student protests are now being witnessed in major cities across the country. The ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP), which is spearheading this movement, has announced nationwide protests for today.
Ahead of the protests, the central government took a major decision late last night. The government has made a significant change regarding the post of Secretary of the Department of Higher Education. Senior IAS officer Vineet Joshi has been removed from this position and appointed as the Secretary of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. This move by the government is being viewed as a significant action amidst the CJP protests.

The Cockroach Janata Party has been protesting at Jantar Mantar for quite some time over paper leaks and other irregularities. On Thursday, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, operating under the Ministry of Personnel, approved the appointments and transfers of several senior officials. The government took this decision amidst the ongoing student protests.
Protesting students across the country are adamant about demanding Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. Alongside this, they are raising various demands, including the need to ensure accountability within the examination system. No official reason linking the reshuffle of officials to the student movement has been cited.
Welfare of youth is the government’s priority: PM Modi
On Thursday, PM Narendra Modi stated that the welfare of the country’s youth is the government’s top priority. He also spoke about establishing fast-track courts to ensure swift action against those involved in the NEET paper leak. He asserted that strict action would be taken against anyone who jeopardises the future of students.
Sonam Wangchuk ends hunger strike.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh visited Medanta Hospital late at night to meet Sonam Wangchuk. They appealed. They appealed to him to end his hunger strike. Subsequently, Sonam Wangchuk ended his hunger strike following assurances from the government regarding his demands. He shared this information himself through a post on the social media platform X.
Sonam Wangchuk had been on a hunger strike for the past 26 days. He had commenced the fast at Jantar Mantar. Citing his deteriorating health, the Delhi Police detained him and subsequently admitted him to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
