While everyone usually enjoys pakodas (fritters) during the rainy season, you can now try making Kacche Kele ki Bhajia (raw banana fritters) instead. This delicious dish pairs perfectly with a hot cup of tea. Although potato and onion pakodas are common favorites, raw banana bhajia is a tasty snack that is not only healthy but also delightfully flavorful and tangy. Let’s explore the full recipe for making raw banana bhajia.

Let’s learn how to make soft yet crispy raw banana bhajia. Find out what ingredients are required and the step-by-step preparation method.

Ingredients (Raw Banana Bhajia)

  • Raw bananas
  • Gram flour (besan)
  • Rice flour
  • Carom seeds (ajwain)
  • Turmeric powder
  • Asafoetida (hing) powder
  • Red chili powder
  • Cumin powder
  • Baking soda
  • Chopped fresh coriander
  • Chopped green chilies
  • Oil
  • Salt

Complete Method for Making Raw Banana Bhajia Receipe

First step, peel the raw bananas and slice them lengthwise or into thin, round discs. Place the sliced bananas in water for a short while.

Next step, take a large mixing bowl and combine the gram flour and rice flour. Add the carom seeds and all the spices—such as red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, roasted cumin powder, and baking soda—along with the chopped coriander. Mix everything together, then gradually add water to create a thick batter. Ensure the batter is thick enough to coat the banana slices easily.

Final Step

Finally, take a deep pan or kadhai and heat oil in it to fry the bhajias. Once the oil is hot, remove the banana slices from the water and pat them dry with a cloth. Dip each slice thoroughly into the prepared batter and fry them well. Fry until they become crisp and crunchy.

Once fried, transfer the fritters onto a paper towel to absorb the excess oil. Sprinkle a little chaat masala over them and enjoy with ketchup, green chutney, or coconut chutney—and don’t forget to brew some tea to go with it.

So, if you are bored and tired of eating samosas and pakoras repeatedly, do give the recipe mentioned above a try for something new. It is a very simple snack that is quick and easy to prepare, and it doesn’t require many ingredients either. So, if you want to enjoy the taste of these banana bhajiyas, serve them hot with a cup of tea and give this recipe a try—you can even pack them in your children’s lunchboxes.
