2002 Delhi murder accused arrested after 24 years
The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested 48-year-old Firoz alias Khaja, who was absconding in a 2002 murder case, after nearly 24 years. According to the police, the accused was caught from a readymade garment factory located in IMT Manesar, Gurugram, where he was working as a tailor for the last two years.
This case is related to the murder of Kalaam Ansari. In February 2002, the body of a man was found in the DDA forest near Tughlaqabad Fort. He was later identified as Kalaam Ansari, a resident of West Champaran, Bihar. According to the police, Ansari had come to Delhi at that time for employment.
Police say the case file remained pending for a long time, but the Crime Branch recently resumed the search for the accused based on old records and clues. After raids at around 30 places and continuous field investigation in the last two months, the police reached Manesar.
