New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan, who was elected as an MP from West Bengal’s Murshidabad constituency on a TMC ticket, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was accompanied by Tahir Khan and Khalilur Rahman. During the meeting, the MPs apprised the Prime Minister of development projects in their constituencies, local issues, and the public’s expectations.
Prime Minister Modi listened to all the issues seriously, promised to consider them, and assured all possible assistance for public welfare. Development work is expected to commence in these constituencies soon. This meeting is also considered significant for the TMC; Yusuf Pathan had won the Murshidabad seat representing the party.
Discussion on Development Works
The MPs, including Yusuf Pathan, submitted letters regarding their constituencies and development plans to Prime Minister Modi. They described the interaction as very positive, noting that the Prime Minister pledged to take every step necessary for the public’s well-being. Furthermore, a particularly emotional moment occurred during the meeting.
Prime Minister Modi recalled a past meeting with Yusuf Pathan’s father. This recollection of old memories added a personal and special touch to the atmosphere of the meeting.
Yusuf Pathan Had Also Met Amit Shah
Earlier, the Murshidabad MP had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the issue of removing loudspeakers from mosques and urged him to intervene immediately. Three MPs, including Yusuf Pathan, submitted a memorandum to the Ministry of Home Affairs demanding a halt to this police action.
In the memorandum, the MPs stated that they fully respect the laws regarding noise control and the directives of the Supreme Court. However, they emphasised that the government must ensure the rules are enforced impartially and with sensitivity to avoid hurting religious sentiments. Notably, these three MPs had previously left the TMC to form a rebel faction and joined the NCPI. There were 20 rebel TMC MPs, including these three.
Rebel TMC MPs who attended the NDA meeting
Upon receiving the invitation, all 20 rebel TMC MPs attended the NDA meeting. This effectively debunked the TMC’s claims suggesting that some of them might return to the party fold. All 20 MPs who left the TMC are openly supporting the NDA. Lok Sabha MPs who had recently split from Shiv Sena (UBT) to join the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena were also invited to this meeting.
