Yamaha XSR155 India Launch Likely on November 11

Yamaha is preparing to broaden its product lineup in the Indian market, with the XSR155 expected to debut on November 11. The Japanese manufacturer’s upcoming motorcycle has been spotted testing on Indian roads, offering an early look at its design.

Inspired by the popular R15 V4, the XSR155 features a modern-retro style highlighted by a round LED headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, flat seat, and an upright riding posture. Spy shots also reveal a circular LCD instrument cluster, upside-down (USD) front forks, a rear monoshock, and disc brakes at both ends. Dual-channel ABS is anticipated, though advanced features such as smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation may be omitted.

Yamaha recently issued a “Block Your Date” invitation for November 11, hinting at a major unveiling. While the company has not officially confirmed details, industry buzz strongly suggests the XSR155 will be the star of the event.

Recent spy shots taken on Indian roads give a clear preview of the bike’s styling. Drawing inspiration from the company’s best-selling R15 V4, the XSR155 combines modern engineering with a classic silhouette. Key highlights include a round LED headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, flat seat, and an upright riding stance designed for both city commutes and weekend rides.

The test mules also reveal a circular LCD instrument console, USD front forks, a rear monoshock suspension, and disc brakes on both wheels. Dual-channel ABS is widely expected for enhanced safety. However, Yamaha may skip smartphone connectivity or turn-by-turn navigation to keep costs competitive.

Powering the XSR155 is likely the familiar 155 cc liquid-cooled engine used in the R15 V4 and MT-15, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and assist-and-slipper clutch. This setup should deliver around 18–19 hp, promising a balance of everyday usability and spirited performance.

With the festive season approaching, the November launch could help Yamaha tap into strong buyer sentiment. While pricing will be revealed at the event, industry watchers expect the XSR155 to be positioned slightly above the MT-15, targeting riders who appreciate retro looks with modern technology.
