New Delhi: Om Prakash Rajbhar, the Minister for Panchayati Raj in the Uttar Pradesh government and chief of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), has made a significant statement regarding the Samajwadi Party (SP). He alleged that the SP is dominated by a specific family, capitalists, and criminals. Rajbhar stated that there is no regard for leaders or party workers within the SP.
He described the SP as a sinking ship. When asked about a potential alliance with the SP for the upcoming elections, he expressed his stance in no uncertain terms. Reacting to the SP chief’s statement, he said, “Akhilesh has divorced us, and we have accepted it; we have said ‘Qubool’ (I accept) three times. Why are they shouting about it now? The SP is a sinking ship; let those who want to die go there.
SP is a party of criminals and capitalists: Rajbhar
UP Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar alleged that leaders and workers hold no value in the SP. He stated that there is no respect for them; Muslims and the extremely backward classes are treated like slaves there, while the party is dominated by a family, capitalists, and criminals.
When asked if there was any possibility of joining the SP, Rajbhar asked what he would gain by going there or winning an election if the party failed to form the government. He pointed out that he is currently part of the government, enjoying perks like an official bungalow, a vehicle, and other facilities, and asked why he would leave all that to go there and “eat dust” (face hardship/irrelevance).

SP cannot win without us: Rajbhar
When further asked why the SP was inviting him, SBSP chief OP Rajbhar said they have realised that they cannot win in the Purvanchal region without Om Prakash Rajbhar. He added that as long as he is with the BJP, the SP cannot even compete with the BJP in Purvanchal. He further stated that the Samajwadi Party is deeply concerned about Omprakash Rajbhar’s growing support base not just in Purvanchal, but across the entire state of Uttar Pradesh.
Perhaps that is why they are recalling their old ally. Rajbhar claimed that, sooner or later, they might well say, “Come, join us; we will give you 50 per cent of the seats.” He added, “Just watch as the elections draw closer; they will make such offers.” When asked if he would switch sides if the SP offered him 50 seats, Rajbhar gave a blunt “Absolutely not.”
