New Delhi: Even as the monsoon begins to withdraw, heavy rains are lashing various parts of the country. These rains have cast a shadow of uncertainty over farmers’ paddy crops; in several areas, storms accompanied by rain have devastated crops, causing significant losses to farmers. The rain shows no signs of abating, with clouds continuing to hover over the region.
Heavy rain has been pouring since morning in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, leading to a drop in temperatures. This cooling trend has brought people relief from the scorching heat. Weather conditions have also deteriorated in the northeastern states, with little hope for immediate respite from the rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warnings for 22 states, including Uttar Pradesh. People have been urged to exercise caution due to the likelihood of storms and lightning strikes.
Heavy Rainfall Warning for 22 States
The IMD has issued an alert for torrential rain across 22 states. Heavy rainfall warnings have been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, and Rajasthan. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal are likely to experience spells of torrential rain.
Alerts for heavy rain have also been issued for Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram. According to the IMD, rainfall ranging from light to heavy is expected in Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. Warnings regarding strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 70 kilometres per hour have also been issued for these regions.
Weather Outlook for Delhi
According to the IMD, the weather in the national capital, Delhi, is expected to remain unsettled on September 27. The maximum temperature is likely to be 31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to hover around 22 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the sky is expected to remain generally cloudy.
Spells of light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, are likely to continue throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening. Wind speeds could reach 40–50 km/h. An alert for cloudy skies has also been issued for September 28.
Weather in UP
The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning for both Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh for today, Sunday, September 27. According to the IMD, rain is expected to continue in some areas of Eastern Uttar Pradesh from September 27 to October 1, and in Western Uttar Pradesh from September 27 to 29. Alerts regarding thunderstorms and lightning strikes have also been issued, and gusty winds or storms may occur.
A warning regarding the risk of low-to-moderate flash floods has been issued for several districts across Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh for the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in the Eastern UP districts of Bahraich, Farrukhabad, Gonda, Hardoi, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Kheri, Shravasti, and Unnao.
