Weather Forecast: Heavy Rain Warning In 14 States Within 5 Hours, Strong Winds Expected

New Delhi: Monsoon rains across various parts of India have brought daily life to a standstill, causing significant inconvenience to the public. States like Bihar are facing a looming threat of floods. Widespread rainfall across North India has caused rivers, drains, and ponds to overflow. Rising water levels in the Ganga, Yamuna, and Kosi rivers have created flood-like conditions.

In hilly regions, landslides triggered by rain have blocked several routes, causing difficulties for motorists. Torrential rains have also disrupted normal life in the northeastern states, where people are facing various challenges. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for intense rainfall across 14 states, where strong winds reaching speeds of 80 km/h are expected.

Likelihood of Heavy Rain in 14 States

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected today, August 27, in 14 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, and Rajasthan. The IMD has issued an alert for stormy weather and heavy rain in Haryana, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. Squally winds reaching speeds of 70 to 80 km/h are predicted in these areas. Authorities have urged farmers and fishermen to exercise caution.

Likelihood of Heavy Rain in Delhi

The IMD has issued an alert for rain and gusty winds in Delhi for today, August 27. Wind speeds of 40 to 50 km/h are expected. The maximum temperature in Delhi today is likely to reach 34°C, while the minimum is expected to be around 29°C.

Weather Forecast for UP

According to the Meteorological Department, a heavy rain warning has been issued for Muzaffarnagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, and Moradabad. According to the IMD, an alert for intense rainfall has been issued for Agra, Mathura, Bahraich, Kanpur, Balrampur, Maharajganj, and Deoria. Additionally, warnings for heavy rainfall have been issued for Hamirpur, Prayagraj, Sonbhadra, Fatehpur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, and Lalitpur. The IMD has indicated a strong likelihood of heavy rain and storms in Mirzapur and Deoria. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 31°C and the minimum 27°C today, August 27.

Heavy Rain Warning for Bihar

The Meteorological Department has issued a rainfall warning for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gaya, Gopalganj, Siwan, and Saran. The IMD has also issued heavy rainfall warnings for Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Raxaul, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Saharsa, Supaul, Araria, and Katihar. There is a strong possibility of heavy rain and storms in Purnia, Madhepura, Khagaria, and Begusarai. Wind speeds of up to 50 km/h are expected in all these districts.
