New Delhi: Monsoon clouds have become active across the country once again, bringing rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Temperatures have dropped in most regions, providing relief from the heat. However, waterlogging in many areas is disrupting traffic and causing inconvenience to the public.
In the northeastern states, rain continues to disrupt daily life, with no immediate respite in sight. Rainfall is also occurring in several parts of South India. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in 15 states. Likely Heavy Rain with Thunderstorms in 15 States
The Meteorological Department has issued heavy rain warnings for 15 states. The IMD predicts heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Punjab. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha.
The IMD has also issued alerts for Assam, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. There is a risk of landslides in hilly areas and lightning strikes in the eastern states. Regarding Central, West, and South India, rainy weather is likely in several parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Tamil Nadu.
Weather Forecast for Delhi-NCR
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Delhi-NCR. Heavy rain has already occurred in various parts of the region, making the weather pleasant. Wind speeds have been recorded between 40 and 50 km/h. Continuous rainfall has led to a drop in temperatures; the maximum temperature is expected to be around 35°C, and the minimum around 32°C. People in Delhi-NCR can also expect relief from the sultry heat.
Rain Likely in UP and Bihar
According to the Meteorological Department, rain is expected in several districts of UP and Bihar. The IMD has issued a rainfall warning for Meerut, Noida, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Mathura, Agra, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra. Additionally, good rainfall is predicted throughout the day in Chandauli, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Deoria, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur.
Traffic disruptions are also anticipated as a result. Heavy rain is likely in Rohtas, Bhojpur, Buxar, Arwal, Aurangabad, and Gaya. According to the IMD, spells of heavy rain may continue in Patna, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj, and Khagaria.
Heavy Rain Expected in Uttarakhand and Himachal
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand over the next two to three days. Continuous rain has created conditions conducive to landslides in the region. A ‘Red Alert’ has been issued today for Nainital, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Almora.
Meanwhile, in Himachal Pradesh, the Meteorological Department has advised people to exercise caution. Tourists and locals in the mountainous areas have been urged to remain alert. Rain alerts have also been issued for Kullu, Shimla, Sirmaur, Kangra, Solan, Bilaspur, and Mandi.
