New Delhi: On one hand, tensions persist between the US and Iran in the Middle East. On the other, the situation between Russia and Ukraine has begun to deteriorate once again. Russia has resumed attacks on Ukraine. Two Ukrainians were killed in a Russian attack. Ukraine launched a counter-attack, in which four people reportedly lost their lives.
Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on the capital, Kyiv. Ukrainian officials confirmed the deaths of two people and reported that three others were injured. Meanwhile, reports indicate that four people were killed in a Ukrainian drone strike on the Russian-occupied city of Horlivka in eastern Ukraine.

Russia Targets Kyiv
Russia targeted the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, with missiles. Following the blast, a fire broke out in a high-rise building near the historic city centre. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that falling debris ignited fires in several buildings, cars, and parking areas. Three people were injured in this Russian attack.
One of the injured has been hospitalised in critical condition. According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the attack on Kyiv targeted facilities linked to drone manufacturing. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously warned that Russia was preparing for a major missile attack.
He emphasised the need to be prepared for such an eventuality. Meanwhile, a Russian drone attack in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city,y claimed the life of one person, with reports of approximately six others being injured; City Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed these details. Additionally, one person was killed in a Russian glide-bomb attack on the southern city of Zaporizhzhia.
Ukraine Also Launches Drone Attack
The Ukrainian military launched a drone attack on Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine. According to Russian officials, four of their citizens were killed in this attack. Ivan Prikhodko, the Russian-appointed mayor of the city, reported that the city had been under attack since early Sunday morning.

The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that, overnight, Russian forces faced attacks involving 133 Ukrainian drones over Russia, the Black Sea, and Crimea. Notably, Russia had seized Crimea in 2014 and incorporated it into its territory, a move not recognized by Ukraine or the majority of the international community.
Escalation of Attacks Between Russia and Ukraine
It is worth noting that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has intensified once again. Both nations are launching missile and drone strikes, resulting in significant harm to civilians. Ukraine has targeted military and energy facilities within Russia; reports indicate growing fuel shortages and strain on military supplies there. Meanwhile, Russia continues to launch missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities.
