US Vs Iran War

New Delhi: Tensions between the US and Iran have flared up once again, threatening to spiral the situation in the Middle East out of control. The US has launched attacks targeting several Iranian military installations. In retaliation, Iran has responded with missile and drone strikes. The possibility of an agreement between the two nations is now rapidly diminishing.

The interim ceasefire agreement has also collapsed. Amidst this, US President Donald Trump has made a surprising claim. According to a post on digital media, President Trump shared significant information with journalists aboard Air Force One, stating that he had just received a call from Iranian officials seeking a deal. However, Iran has reacted sharply to this claim.

Iran Responds to Trump’s Statement

Amidst the conflict, a war of words has ensued between the leaders of both nations. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi dismissed Trump’s claim regarding a call from Iranian officials seeking peace. He stated, “We respond with action, not undignified language.

He further asserted that Trump’s statements cannot diminish the greatness, dignity, and resolve of the Iranian people. The Foreign Minister added that Iran remains committed to defending its national interests and sovereignty and will not back down in the face of pressure or insulting remarks. The US had launched fresh attacks, angered by Iran’s strikes in the Strait of Hormuz.

The US military claims to have inflicted heavy damage through intense bombing campaigns stretching from Chabahar Port to Bandar Abbas. Iran appears to be reeling from these fierce attacks. The US President has already announced the termination of the ceasefire agreement. If no agreement is reached between the two nations, the conflict in the Middle East is likely to escalate further.

Trump’s Claim: Calls Received from Iranian Officials

The US has intensified attacks on military bases in southern Iran, raising fears of significant damage. Donald Trump claimed that Iran appears to be on the back foot following American strikes. Iranian officials reached out, expressing a willingness to reach an agreement.

Trump stated that he was unsure whether Iran could be trusted to honour any such agreement. He noted that Washington had delivered a far more forceful response than Tehran, adding, “We hit them hard.” He issued a warning, stating that if Iran launches one attack, the US would retaliate with twenty.

Increased Volatility Expected in Global Markets

It is worth noting that if tensions between the US and Iran persist, crude oil prices in the global market could rise once again. A sharp decline in crude oil prices had been recorded following the interim agreement reached between the two nations; however, the situation is now expected to deteriorate again, as the US and Iran are once more on a collision course.
