New Delhi: The sparks of war have reignited in West Asia, impacting the lives of ordinary people. The situation has deteriorated to the point where Iran is dropping bombs on neighbouring countries to retaliate against the US, specifically targeting locations where US airbases are situated. Meanwhile, the US has vowed to teach Iran a lesson and appears poised to strike key Iranian sites.
US President Donald Trump has made it clear that the US intends to target a site known as “Pickaxe Mountain” in Iran. He warned that the US would continue to launch severe attacks against the country. Trump made these remarks during an interview on the Hugh Hewitt Show.

Donald Trump Makes a Significant Statement
US President Donald Trump stated unequivocally that the US has begun encircling Iranian ships. He affirmed that the US would take responsibility for keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, though a fee would be charged for this service. During the interview, Trump mentioned, “We are going to target Pickaxe Mountain. Tell the Iranians to be fully prepared.”
He added that the site is under constant surveillance, noting that no activity is currently visible there. Trump claimed that Iran’s nuclear program is struggling to progress because the US destroys relevant facilities whenever it receives intelligence about them. He noted that Iran now avoids discussing this issue. Trump indicated that the US might attempt to strike Pickaxe Mountain in the near future.
Why Pickaxe Mountain is Significant
It is worth noting that Pickaxe Mountain holds great significance for Iran. Located near the Natanz uranium enrichment facility,y which has previously suffered heavy damage,ge it is a heavily fortified site featuring two tunnel complexes situated deep underground.
According to experts, even America’s most powerful bunker-busting bombs would be unable to reach these new tunnels. Meanwhile, Donald Trump had previously stated that the US is working to reimpose restrictions on Iranian vessels in the Gulf region. This decision followed another round of missile and drone attacks between the two nations.

Prolonged Tension
Tensions between the US and Iran have persisted for nearly five months. Although a brief period of calm was achieved through mutual agreement, it did not last long due to the respective ambitions of both nations. There are certain conditions set by the US and Iran upon which reaching a consensus appears to be a formidable challenge.
The situation has deteriorated further since the US initiated attacks. Iran, too, is continuously targeting US airbases across the Middle East. This has raised expectations of renewed volatility in global markets. Iran has announced plans to completely close the Strait of Hormuz.
